The official poster of The Great Gatsby shows the iconic characters of the movie. Just from looking at the poster you can tell that Leonardo DiCaprio is the main protagonist as he is in the middle and he is looking straight at the viewers.
Even though the characters are descending behind him, they are still equally placed on his platform, therefore signifies that their roles in the film are equally important but DiCaprio is always the centre of attention.
In this particular poster Carey Mulligan is shown right at the bottom of the poster, this could imply that she is also important, also the fact that she may be different because she isnt with anyone else in the poster. She is placed alone and also she isn't looking directly at the viewers, this could suggest she has a secret side to her or she may be the turning point in the movie.
